In this body of work, Remnants, I have moved away from the “hard” objects of industrial machinery to the “soft” remnants left behind. With this series, I continue to use tools of industry during production, then manipulate the serial forms, allowing them to take on the marks of the hand and process. Steel like surfaces are chosen for soft forms, displacing them from their perceived function just as the industrial worker has been displaced by technology that imitates the hand-made.
